Endorsed by the Nebraska 150 Commission as a “Signature Event,” Hildegard Center for the Arts, in collaboration with the Nebraska Tourism Commission and the Nebraska State Historical Society, issued a call to both amateur and professional photographers to capture images of historic sites or hidden treasures from all 93 Nebraska counties. Photographers were invited to share photos of community or personal significance to tell Nebraska’s story. Over 800 photo submissions were received!
“Being a part of this project from start to finish, we’ve learned so much about the state,” said Hildegard President Kim Einspahr. “The history and stories that come from these images really showcase how diverse Nebraska is.”
The winning photos are featured in this statewide photo exhibit that promises to link history, generations and cultures as it travels across Nebraska for the state’s sesquicentennial celebration this year.
“We’re excited to host this exhibit because it provides the residents of Fremont the opportunity to share in a state-wide Sesquicentennial event that the larger cities often enjoy,” said Tina Walker, Library Director. Walker explained that the Keene Memorial Library and Gallery 92 partnered to bring the exhibit to Fremont.
A reception for the new exhibit will take place at Gallery 92 on April 7th. The main exhibit will be at Gallery 92 and a virtual exhibit will be at Keene Memorial Library, April 4 - April 30, 2017.
